The player must continuously find new victims lest they run out of blood entirely. Feeding on a blood-carrying target (victim) will refill the player&amp;#039;s Blood Pool to its maximum capacity of 10 liters and absorb the victim&amp;#039;s blood type (Creature, Rogue, Warrior, etc.). Later on in the game the player unlocks {{ItemFrame|Blood Potion}} and {{ItemFrame|Blood Merlot}}, which allows them to store blood for later consumption. Each blood type provides different passive bonuses, with higher quality blood granting stronger bonuses. The 5 tiers of Blood Pool powers are unlocked at different percentage levels. For example, Tier IV Blood Pool powers will only be unlocked by draining a 90%+ blood quality victim.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The Blood Pool drains slowly over time, and faster when dealing &amp;amp; taking damage or using particular [[abilities#Vampire Powers|vampire powers]] such as {{Ability|Blood Mend}} or {{Ability|Expose Vein}}. Dying will immediately incur a 1 liter Blood Pool loss. Blood drainage can be virtually paused whilst sleeping in a [[Coffin]]. Blood drain is reduced by 25% on Relaxed Difficulty.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;Upon running out of a non-frailed Blood Pool, the player&amp;#039;s Blood Pool will revert to 1 liter of [[File:BloodType_Frailed.png|frameless|25px]] &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Frailed&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; blood. &amp;lt;br&amp;gt;If their frailed Blood Pool runs out, the player&amp;#039;s health will slowly deplete to 1 health. Feeding on any source of blood will restore the player&amp;#039;s health regeneration.&lt;br /&gt;

Prior to v1.0, a player&amp;#039;s current Blood Pool could not be refilled by any means. However, as of update 1.0, it is now possible by feeding on a defeated [[Primal Blood Soul]], either from a Tier 2 [[Rift Incursion]] in the [[Ruins of Mortium]] or a summoned one from the {{ItemFrame|Stygian Summoning Circle|type=Structure}}. Doing so will refill the player&amp;#039;s current Blood Pool by 5 liters (50%).&lt;br /&gt;
