It is also a rough estimate of the progression of a player, but does not display how many and which [[V Blood Carriers|bosses]] have been slain. Gear levels limit what bosses you are allowed to track, as a boss that is too many levels above your own are blurred out in the V Blood menu.&lt;br /&gt;

Gear levels from equipment also increase the level of a [[Servants|Servant]] when they are wearing them. Levels both increase the power of a Servant and also give them more &amp;#039;Hunt proficiency&amp;#039;.&lt;br /&gt;

Gear Level modifies both damage dealt to, and damage taken from NPC enemies.&lt;br /&gt;

The damage modifier calculations for Gear Level differentials (deltas) are very complicated, as the game uses custom ranges rather than a straightforward formula. &amp;lt;br&amp;gt;Generally, if the player is &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;overleveled&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; they will deal &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;1% more&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; &amp;amp; take &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;1% less&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; damage per Gear Level delta.&lt;br /&gt;
