Mechanics
- The Throw Daggers description is slightly misleading. You will always have a minimum of one dagger to throw, even without waiting the full 1.1 second. In practice this make the actual cooldown closer to the listed 0.55 seconds. This also means deliberately only casting Throw Daggers at max stacks results in a significant DPS loss.
- Dagger stacks can be gained and expended freely during the Throw Dagger cast time. However, the dagger stack cooldown resets at the end of the Throw Dagger cast time.
- For example, if you were to start casting Throw Dagger immediately upon reaching 2 stacks, the 0.6+ seconds of stack regeneration gained during the cast animation will be lost once you run out of daggers to throw.
- Simply holding down the attack input for Throw Daggers will result in near zero stack regeneration loss and optimal DPS output by default, if no attack speed bonuses are applied.
- However, minimizing stack regeneration loss in-between other Weapon Skills and Spells is tricky. It requires precise timing of your dagger throw such that the last dagger stack is gained right as you're running out of daggers to throw. If you undershoot the timing, even more stack regeneration will be lost.
- Throw Dagger will only leave a dagger on the ground if it hits a target or solid object.
- Release Daggers can be animation cancelled at any point, and all daggers will still return to the player.
- The returning daggers from Release Daggers won't pierce solid objects.
- The player is invincible during the leap of Rain of Daggers.
- Its unique bursty combo design and its ability to gain additional daggers from the Release Daggers skill makes a calculation of the primary skill's DPS in isolation unreflective of its actual damage output. When optimized, this weapon has some of the highest damage potential in the game.
