Note that wooden coffins only provide protection from Sun Exposure. Enemy vampires can easily destroy it and kill you afterwards, even while you're offline if it isn't well-protected.
Resting in a coffin pauses your blood drain until the rest ends. Consumables timers, however, are not paused. Also rapidly heals you to max health.
The Wooden Coffin is available in 2 variations, which differ only in appearance:
